New IT Committee Convenor for the Society of Australian Genealogists

Yes, that would be me. It’s a terrifying prospect, and I know I’m in way over my head. Our current Convenor is moving to Ireland to work for a couple of years and the logical replacement, in fact the only candidate, is me.

My commercial IT experience is limited to application development. I know next to nothing about servers and networks and those important bits and pieces that keep the place running smoothly. I can’t fix a PC when it stops behaving, unless the problem is something really simple, nor can I diagnose internet connection problems unless it’s a matter of putting the cable back in. I know a little about web development but will that be enough?

If you are a member of the Society of Australian Genealogists, or would like to become one, and have some knowledge in any of these areas I’d love to hear from you!
